About Me

Data Scientist & AI Engineer | Sports Technology

I'm Matthew Wilcox, a Data Scientist and AI Engineer focused on building systems that transform complex, real-world data into production-ready applications.

My work centers on machine learning, data engineering, and AI-driven systems, with experience designing end-to-end pipelines that power predictive models and automated decision-making. I specialize in integrating data from multiple APIs and sensor-based platforms, developing scalable ETL workflows, and deploying tools that enable users to interact with data through intelligent interfaces.

In my previous role with Rutgers University Football, I architected and maintained a centralized data ecosystem integrating APIs from platforms such as Catapult, VALD, 1080 Sprint, and Oura. I built pipelines, data models, and analytics tools that supported performance monitoring and informed decision-making.

Previously, at Duke University Athletics, I developed custom performance metrics and aligned event-level datasets to support predictive modeling and exploratory analysis.

I hold an M.S. in Applied Data Science (GPA 3.94) from New College of Florida and a B.S. in Data Science & Finance from Ramapo College of New Jersey.

On the open-source side, I maintain R and Python packages that wrap the APIs of major sports technology platforms, making it easier for practitioners to access and analyze their data programmatically.
